Memory: SigManderville, Battle on the Big Bridge
Regained: Day 148, the Rotten
Summary: This is far from the strongest of memories!
The wind whipping across the bridge was a constant reminder that what was happening today was, well, actually a thing that was happening. Rosalyn peered out down the bridge, towards the large, red-clad man and his faithful chicken, and sighed. This was, without a doubt, the strangest duel she would ever take part in.
Behind her, there was some discussion over strategy. It may have been eight on one, but it was a very large one, and none of them doubted Greg--sorry, Gilgamesh--was powerful. She wasn't entirely listening, to be honest, until Okena had wandered over to get her attention by picking her up and carrying her back over to the group.
He'd then smirked and commented 'Very nice', and she hadn't had time to ask what he meant before Cerys had punched him. She decided it was better not to ask.
"We don't have anyone equipped to really hold his attention, Miss Rocha..." X'lohi was a rather small Miqo'te, here as a healer alongside Senah'ra. Rosalyn blinked, and looked over the group. Bard, dragoon, monk, monk, ninja, ninja...summoner. [Axe] caught her observation and simply shrugged.
"I could change, but it'll take a few minutes, and to be honest, Rosie, it's cold up here."
"Miss Rosie, what should we do--" She sighed, and clapped Margeraude on the elbow.
"Fuck it." She remembered the shape and feel of the glyph that would bring forth Titan, and simply adjusted the speed parameters on her channeling. The egi rose with a familiar rumble, almost like a greeting, and in the same moment Rosalyn began to walk forward.
"I can do it. Just keep Titan alive and this will work."
She heard a stunned silence before a loud cheer from Okena as he followed, and the others shortly thereafter began their charge.
As it turned out, Gilgamesh was every bit as strong as she feared...and didn't fight remotely fair, to boot. While her egi was more than enough to keep his attention, his spear struck deep and painfully. Not to mention, every other minute, he seemed to change one of them into someone 6 ilms high. While this made Cerys and [Axe] absolutely adorable, it didn't exactly enhance their combat abilities. To add injury to insult, when the fight seemed won, Gilgamesh seemed to surrender...only to explode a bomb in their faces and flee farther down the bridge.
Rosalyn swore so colorfully and so long [Axe] had covered X'lohi's ears.
They chased him down the bridge regardless, making fast work of the dogs and vultures left in their eccentric foe's wake, and faced Gilgamesh and his new horde of trusty chickens. The chicken's presence became horrifyingly apparently when Gil turned several of them into frogs. Even once freed from her tiny, hoppy form, Rosalyn's frustrations at this ridiculousness of it all somehow seemed to involve beating Senah'ra with her book until a splash of white magic brought her out of the confusion.
She took a moment, then, to stare at where Okena was leading Gilgamesh in circles after he'd destroyed Titan-egi and sighed.
"This...isn't what I expected to be doing today," she murmured, starting to summon the egi again.
The battle from then on was something of a mess. Several of them were knocked unconscious repeatedly, including Rosalyn herself. She only knew of the end when Alexei and Senah'ra helped her to her feet once Gilgamesh was left bowed and heaving.
At which point, the man declared he'd pound them next time, and leapt off the bridge, his chicken's legs in his hands. He even managed to hover a couple seconds before falling to gravity.
She had no words for any of it, and the silence that fell over them all was broken, a few moments later, by Okena's whining as Cerys pulled him into a headlock and demanded he go on pilgrimage with her.
"...Should we help--"
"No."
