Regain: The Fall of Dalamud

Memory: SigNeg; The Fall of Dalamud
Regained: Day 128; Haunt
Summary: To All of My Children...

---

The battle won't end. Her hands are covered in blood, her knives are broken, and she barely has the energy to cast. The empire's troops seem endless, and the linkpearl in her ear is only giving out spurts of static now.

She takes it out, drops it to the side, and backs up for higher ground. The moon has fallen so low now...was this all for nothing? Had the last five years only been for her to lose another home? Where were the Warriors of Light, in all of this, anyway...[Carnelian] swore, and tore a knive off the body of some dead soldier to slit the throat of his comrade. The Empire couldn't win here, like this. This couldn't be the end of it.

She felt the shockwave of whatever it was that had fallen out of Dalamud hit. She only barely had time to look before the sound of something cracking registered to her. And then...

Then everything became something out of a nightmare. The dragon that rose from the moon was bigger than even the tales of Midgardsormr, bigger than the Garlean airships, bigger than anything she'd ever seen, and it was horrifying. That roar chilled her to her bones. There was no place for courage here--she turned, and sprinted back up the hill, grabbing a white-haired Miqo'te and dragging him into cover. They wouldn't make it off the field. She knew that much.

The battle that had dragged on, the thousands of soldiers from the Grand Companies, the thousands more the Garleans had brought...everything was decimated in an instant. She could see, barely, the flash of the Archon's magic...and saw more clearly as the the Twelve rose to try and contain the dragon. Bahamut, she murmured, as the name came to her, a terrible whisper deep in her bones of a name she'd only just forgotten.

The Twelve could not stop it. The Primal shattered the bonds and redoubled it's attack. There would be no surviving this, not by anyone.

She closed her eyes, blinking back tears, and almost missed the magic enveloping both of them. It was the Archon's, but there was no way he could have seen them, was there? Two Maelstrom soldiers hiding in a ditch couldn't possibly have caught his attention--

Bahamut's power ripped the earth from the ground, and the symbol of one of the twelve appeared before her. Then everything was dark.

--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
--The Primal Bahamut: A big fuck off dragon. (Bigger than Waldemar. DEFINITELY MEANER.)
--Garlean Empire: A lot of angry feelings for them.
--Knows this was some time ago--Ros is about 18 in the memory, so five-ish years back?
--'Warriors of Light' sounds important!
--WHAT THE FUCK WHY DID THE MOON HAVE A DRAGON IN IT
--She's probably not dead? Maybe.
