Regained: Day 135, Bone Witch
Summary: Bow Down Overdweller
It wasn't really a surprise how much aether was in the air here, deep in the belly of Kobold lands, but it struck her how different it was from her encounter from Ifrit. The Lord of the Inferno had made the air burn in her lungs and sear against her skin, but here...
"Dacien! To the left!" The elf, who had been attacking from Titan's flank, moved without questioning her, just in time to miss the powerful pulse of Titan's power that would have crushed him against the ground. The Lord of Crag's realm was heavy with his power, and in many cases this was literal. She moved out of the way just in time to avoid the angry swipe he shot at her, and saw him turn, bearing down on [Axe] in a two-pronged assault that made her heart catch in her throat.
[Magpie] will move Eos to cover, Miah will take hit, in that time there will be a 47% chance of breaking his guard. Opportunity will be small. We cannot miss it.
She gathered as much of the aether she could from the surroundings. This aether-rich land still made her sick, and her nerves screamed with pain, but the power in her fingertips banished the thought of it. From her, she could push it into her summon, and through the connection she focused on the feeling of the Inferno's fire. A piece of it remained with her, and the heavy weight of Titan's aether became burning as she gave the summon power.
"Now, hit it now!"
There was the chance. She snapped her eyes open and her egi moved without her needing to verbalize the command, digging claws into Titan's exposed heart. Her own magic bit into it, corroding the rock and chipping away the primal's defense with every beat. The pain of His aether was fading, replaced only with the roaring of power through her ears.
Titan struck out as they pushed him back, catching Sen on the backhand. The healers were busy, but that was no matter. She ran across the arena to him, catching him by the wrist to send a shock of all the aether she held right through him.
"Get up. We're not done yet." He nodded, and turned, huffing out a breath as he focused on the Primal once more. [Axe] and Miah had pushed him to the edge, and she could feel through her egi's claws his heart would break soon.
"...Sen...hit him with everything you have." He nodded, and she could feel how much power he was starting to put into his next cast already, before she let go of his arm. Hold, hold, hold...wait for the right moment. Wait for the perfect shot.
The spell the black mage cast deafened her with sheer power. Titan's heart shattered under the sheer force, and the primal was shoved back off his arena as he staggered. She felt his form dissipate before he even hit the ground, and let out a laugh.
"He's dead! The Lord of Crags has fallen!" She staggered a little, with the weight of Titan's power gone from her, and then yelped as she was immediately swept up into a hug. Dacien's exuberance was infectious but her ribs creaked a little under his strength. Even once she'd escaped him, there were more hugs to be had, over the wooping and cheering and completely unprofessional celebrating happening here.
I should rein them in, we can't stay here,, she thought, before she was swept up and spun by an exhausted and completely triumphant [Axe]. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Mahji mouth 'Tell him', and she stuck her tongue out at him over the warrior's shoulder.
They'd killed a primal. They deserved a little time to celebrate. Her next task could wait until they returned home, after all.
Effects/Notes:
-So that's what it's like to kill a primal!
-It seems like I'm sensitive to aether? And a Primal has a very strong connection to it.
-Holy shit all my friends are badasses.
-Mahji is the catboy from the Fall of Dalamud memory. Looks like we definitely both survived.
-...I cannot possibly have feelings. That's nonsense. No.
-Confirmed working with Magpie and Axe. Lily was also present, along with the two catboys and the new catgirl, Miah.
